The NCN5192 is a single-chip CMOS modem for addressable Highway Addressable Remote Sensor Data (HART) field instruments and master nodes. The modem, in combination with several external passive components, provides all the functionality needed to meet HART physical layer requirements, including modulation, demodulation, receive filtering, carrier detection, and transmit signal shaping. In addition, the NCN5192 has an integrated DAC to implement a low BOM current loop from the transmitter.The NCN5192 uses phase sequential frequency shift keying (FSK) at 1200 bits per second. To conserve power, the receive circuitry is disabled during transmit operation and vice versa. This provides half-duplex operation for HART communications.
