The VHC14 is an advanced high-speed CMOS six-way Schmitt inverter fabricated in a silicon-gate CMOS process. It achieves high-speed operation similar to an equivalent bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining low power consumption in CMOS. Same pin configuration and function as VHC04 except that the input has hysteresis between positive and negative input thresholds Capable of converting slowly varying input signals into clearly defined jitter-free output signals thus providing better interference immunity than conventional inverters tolerance. An input protection circuit ensures that 0V to 7V is applied to the input pins regardless of the supply voltage. This device can be used to interface a 5V system with a 3V system and both power systems such as battery backup. This circuit prevents damage to the device due to mismatched supply and input voltages.
