The MC10EP89 is a differential fan-out gate ideal for driving coaxial cables. The device is especially suitable for digital video broadcasting applications: for this application, each output can be used as an independent driver because the system is polarity-independent. The driver produces a 70% larger swing than a standard ECL output. When driving coaxial cable, proper termination at both ends of the line is required to minimize signal loss. 1.6 V (5 V) and 1.4 V (3.3 V) swings allow termination at both ends of the cable while maintaining 800 mV (5 V) and 700 mV (3.3 V) swings at the receiving end of the cable. Because of the large output swing, the device cannot be terminated into standard VCC-2.0 V. All DC parameters are tested with VCC-3.0 V load into 50 ohms. The driver accepts standard differential ECL inputs and can operate from the Digital Video Broadcasting standard -5.0 V supply.
