The NCP1397 is a high-performance controller for half-bridge resonant topologies such as series resonant, parallel resonant and LLC resonant converters. It integrates a 600 V gate driver, which simplifies layout and reduces external parts count. The unique architecture of the NCP1397, including a 500 kHz voltage-controlled oscillator whose control mode allows flexibility where OR operations are required, provides everything needed to build a reliable and robust resonant mode power supply. The NCP1397 provides a suite of protection functions with configurable settings to optimize any application. These include: auto recovery or fault latching, under voltage, open optocoupler, soft start and short circuit protection. Dead time is also adjustable to overcome shoot through current.
