The AX5051 is a general-purpose single-chip RF transceiver for 433/868/915 MHz SRD bandwidth. The device is typically used for medium distances up to 1 km. This transceiver supports data rates from 1 - 600 kbps. The AX5051 transceiver consists of an integrated video front end, along with modulators and demodulators, a flexible communications controller, and integrated voltage regulators. Baseband data processing is implemented in an integrated communications controller, which enables user-friendly communication and configuration via an SPI interface. Integrated frame processing enables the use of low-cost external microcontrollers. With data rates up to 350 kbps for FSK modulated data and 600 kbps for ASK/PSK modulated data, this chip is at the top of AXSEM's family of narrow bandwidth transceivers. The transceiver has a sensitivity of -116 dBm at 1.2 kbps and -103 dBm at 100 kbps, and these sensitivity values ​​are achieved when operating at 433 MHz, 868 MHz, and 915 MHz. Combined with an output power of up to 16 dBm, this makes it possible to build systems with very attractive link budgets. AX5051 supports FSK, MSK, PSK and ASK modulations. In transmit mode, all modulations are shaped. The AX5051 is a very easy-to-use protocol implemented in hardware. This will guarantee the least amount of code, and the lowest CPU usage on the microcontroller. CRC is automatically calculated in RX and TX. Digitally distributed spectra are available in all modulations. The only external parts are crystal, antenna and few passive parts. All parameters of the AX5051 such as modulation, frequency, ripple and output power are programmable through the SPI interface. Systems built using the AX5051 provide cost-effective, maximum range bi-directional communication links.
