The LP2950 and LP2951 are tiny power dissipation, low-drainage (LDO) linear voltage regulators ideal for maintaining proper regulation with very low input-output dropout voltage. These devices feature a very low quiescent bias current of 75 µA and are capable of supplying over 100 mA of output current. Provides internal current and high temperature limit protection. The LP2951 LDO linear voltage regulator has three additional features. The first is an Errorbar output that can be used to signal an out-of-regulation condition to external circuitry, or as a microprocessor power-on reset. The second function is used to preset the output voltage as 5.0 V, 3.3 V or 3.0 V output (depending on version) or program it in the range of 1.25 V to 29 V. It consists of a pinned output resistor divider that provides direct access to the error amplifier feedback input. The third function is a shutdown input that allows a logic level signal to shut down or turn on the regulator output. Due to the low input-output voltage dropout and bias current specifications of these devices, they are suitable for battery-powered computers, consumer and industrial equipment that require long battery life. The LP2950 comes in a three-pin box 29 with DPAK encapsulation, and the LP2951 comes in an eight-pin dual-row plug-in SO-8 and Micro-8 surface mount encapsulation. "A" suffix devices have an initial output voltage tolerance of +/-0.5%.
