MC74HC238A has the same pinout as LS238. The device inputs are compatible with standard CMOS outputs; with pull-up resistors, they are compatible with LSTTL outputs. The HC238A decodes the three-bit address into an eighth active-high output. The device has three chip select inputs, two active low, and one active high, allowing signal splitting, cascading, and chip select functions. Signal splitting is accomplished by using the address inputs to select the desired device output; one chip select is used as a data input and the other chip selects remain active.
