The NCP3420 is a single-phase MOSFET gate driver optimized for driving the gates of high-side and low-side power MOSFETs in synchronous buck converters. The high-side and low-side drivers are capable of driving a 3000 pF load with 30 ns propagation delay and 20 ns transition time. Over a wide operating voltage range, the high-side or low-side MOSFET gate drive voltage can be optimized for best energy efficiency. An internal adaptive non-overlapping circuit reduces switching losses by preventing both MOSFETs from being on at the same time. Both gate outputs can be driven low by applying a low logic level to the output disable pin. An undervoltage lockout function ensures that both driver outputs are low when the supply voltage is low, while a thermal shutdown function provides overtemperature protection for the IC.
